Please... Not in the name of Islam!!

It's gory, it's inhuman and it's not and can never be... for Islam.
How can people who go about killing innocent men and women call themselves the followers of Islam? Who gives them the right to malign a faith and go about carrying out sick and outrageous acts of terror?

The Taliban - meaning - Students of Islamic Knowledge Movement - have once again done their bit in bringing down the name of Islam by killing the innocent Indian Telecom engineer, K. Surayanarayan in cold blood.

Its by acts like these that even the sanest and most pro-Islamic people can be turned hostile towards Islam and Muslims over the world. Muslims who have nothing to do with all these killings or acts of sheer disgust.

The Taliban has already done enough harm to the name of Islam by forcefully confining the Afghan women to their houses and forbidding them from going to schools and get education. Who are they to call themselves Islamic if they don’t even abide by the first verse revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) which said “Iqra”, meaning, “Read” – and its for both men and women. When the faith itself doesn’t discriminate amongst genders, then who gives these “qafirs” the right to do so? Yes… they are “qafirs” because if I am a Muslim, then how can they be so too?

I, like many others, demand an explanation. Being a follower of Islam myself, I ought to know what makes their Islam any different from mine. I read from the same Quran, I believe in the same Prophet, and I follow the same one God. Then how can it be that their Islam teaches them to brutally murder the innocent while mine enjoins the duty to be pious and loving.

My heart goes out for the family that has lost a member – the woman who lost her husband and children who lost their father. No, it cannot be Islam and it’s not the God’s will to have an innocent man killed at the behest of warlords and it cannot be God’s will to have a family left behind to weep this way. No – this can’t be Allah’s will. Which part of Islam tells us to go about disrespecting the very ideals of Islam – the ideals that lay stress on peace and humanity?

The only heartening thing at this moment has been the “fatwa” (a religious edict) issued against Taliban by about 30 Muftis in Hyderabad – condemning the killing as anti-Islamic.

“The Quran says do not harm the innocents to whichever religion they might belong to. Kidnapping is an un-Islamic act and strictly prohibited in the Shariah”, said the fatwa. It also (incidentally) said that, “it seems that the Taliban has no knowledge of Islam or they have simply gone mad”.

Yes… that might be the explanation – but how long do we need to find explanations – why can’t we just put an end to it?
It’s one again a call to all people who are reading this and can spread the word – please don’t take this in the name of Islam – lets unite against terrorism – it’s taking us nowhere.

I hate to be rude, but do you know a thing about your own religion? I'm sorry, but someone needs to step up and say it. Islam is, by nature, a violent religion.

Let me start with this. The Qur'an does in fact say not to harm the innocent. In the earlier periods of the book, that is. The chapters of the Qur'an are arranged by the length of the verses, not chronologically. The book is generally split up by scholars into two time frames; the later of which cancels out the earlier by what is called abrogation, and is based on the philosophy that Allah can change his mind whenever he pleases.
Adding to this, the chronologically later chapters are more violent than the earlier, including such commands as that non-believers be given three choices: "Convert, pay the poor-rate (a tax for non-believers), or be killed".

Furthermore, open the Qur'an to any page and read until you find something about "hypocrites". They get treated just like non-believers. Pretty wierd, huh? People who don't follow all the rules of Islam get killed just like people who don't follow any.

I suppose I should add a few details about Muhammad here. For starters, as you may or may not know, he married a nine-year old girl. He even wanted to marry her at six, but Allah said "no, wait until she's nine," or something to that effect.

Here's something, men who die as martyrs performing Allah's will (the suicide bombers killing the non-Muslims) will recieve the highest reward of 72 houris (virgins) in heaven. I'm not so sure about what happens to female martyrs, but there's obviously something for them if men and women are in fact equal like you say in the religion.

I'd like to point out at this point that the Qur'an and the Hadith tell (repeatedly) men to beat their wives. This coming from me is by no means a "smear Islam" thing, but you seem to think that Islam is absouletely peaceful and against violence. Perhaps these examples of orders to be violent will change your opinion.

"Why should a faith be blamed for something some of it's followers have done to malign it's image? So here I am.. trying to make sense of it all.. and trying to cast away the shadows from the minds of people who have been wronged - directly or indirectly in the name of Islam - even when Islam had nothing to do with it - not even remotely. So let's hope I achieve what I have set out to."

You can accept the truth when I'm waving it in front of your face, or you can deny fact and contine to be "wronged - directly... in the name of Islam...." All I'm telling you is that, according to Islam, you're wrong, not the so-called radicals.

"Please... Not in the name of Islam!!"

No. They're all saying:
"Please, in the name of Islam, let it be so."
